Everything runs locally in your browser via JavaScript. Your documents are never uploaded to any server — not even ours. What you work with stays with you.

Most online PDF tools upload your files to a server, process them remotely, and return the result. This means your confidential documents — contracts, medical records, financial reports — are temporarily stored on someone else's computer. PDFSnip is architecturally different: everything runs inside your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. The PDF bytes are processed entirely in your local RAM, then downloaded directly from memory. Zero network transmission of your file data.
This approach also makes PDFSnip faster than server-based tools for most operations. Splitting or compressing a PDF is nearly instant because there's no round-trip to a server. And since there's no server infrastructure to maintain, we can offer all tools completely free with no subscription, no account, and no file size limits beyond your available browser memory.
PDFSnip currently supports 9 tools: split, merge, compress, rotate, reorder pages, delete pages, images to PDF (including HEIC), PDF to images, and PDF to Word. All tools are built with open web standards — pdf-lib, pdf.js and the Canvas API — and run on every modern browser without any plugins or installs.
Yes — every tool on PDFSnip is free to use with no subscription, no payment, and no account required. There are no daily limits, no file size restrictions, and no "premium" tier. PDFSnip is supported by non-intrusive display advertising on the page.
No — your files never leave your device. PDFSnip processes everything locally in your browser using JavaScript. When you select a file, it's read into your browser's memory. The processed result is downloaded directly from memory. No file data is ever sent to any server.
PDFSnip works on all modern browsers — Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and mobile browsers. The tools use standard browser APIs (File API, Canvas, Web Workers) that are universally supported. No plugins, extensions, or installs are required.
There is no hard limit imposed by PDFSnip. The practical limit is your browser's available memory — typically several gigabytes. Most PDFs, even large ones with hundreds of pages, process without any issues.
Click "Split PDF", select your file, enter the page range you want to extract (e.g. "From 1 To 3" to get the first 3 pages), and click Split. The extracted pages download as a new PDF. To split every page into individual files, repeat for each page range you need.
Yes — you can add as many PDFs as you need. Use the "Merge PDF" tool, drag and drop multiple files, reorder them by dragging, and click Merge. The files are combined in the order shown.
The PDF to Word tool extracts text content from your PDF using pdf.js, preserves heading structure based on font size, and creates a formatted DOCX file using docx.js — all in your browser. It works best with text-based PDFs (those where you can select and copy text). Scanned PDFs contain only images of text and cannot be converted without OCR, which is not available in browser-based tools.
Yes — PDFSnip is fully responsive and works on iOS Safari and Android Chrome. The file picker and download functions work on mobile browsers. HEIC image conversion (the iPhone photo format) is also supported on mobile.
